Pianist Jon Davis explores and expounds to philosophically approach the music encapsulated in his 2016 album "Changes Over Time." The ensuing result is a strong piano trio date that features bassist Ugonna Okegwo and drummer Jochen Rueckert. Davis masterfully employs a full palette of harmonic landscapes, melodic motifs, and swampy grooves to make emotionally engaging statements that are also elegantly lyrical and clearly suggestive of a modern jazz sensibility.
